2015.5.10: I found this guitar at Hard-Off on the way back from an excursion to Kyoto.
I kinda wanted a TEJ. just bought it because I don't have a telecas and the head is cool lol.
The reason for junk is bad jack, sticker, and dirty.
I found out later that almost all of the potato screws on the bridge saddle are stuck, the neck binding is a little peeling off, the fret grooves are worn, the neck is warped, the front PU is not mounted properly at the manufacturing process, and the rear PU has a different pole piece spacing.
2015.6.7: Finally completed. Here are the changes
PU: Rear: tapped and wired for Grassroots bridge, Front: Schaller.
Front mounting position was modified.
Bridge saddle: New screws.
Bridge springs ➡2 used genuine ibanez springs, 1 new power spring
When I replaced all three springs with new power springs, the arms almost broke, so I replaced them with weak ibanez springs.
Gold knob ➡ Cosmo black knob
Strap pin ➡ Lock pin
Jack made by Switchcraft.
Conductive paint on the counterbore.
Wiring material ➡ made by Belden
1vol/1tone each 250kΩ ➡Jazbe-style 2vol with rear 500kΩ push-push switch pot and front 250kΩ
I like the mix with the front and rear PUs at full tension, which gives a phased sound, but it's close to the Telecas' jerky feel.
The switch pot is CTS size, so the hole is extended.
The toggle switch used to be an up/down switch, but I changed the angle and made it slanted.
I wanted to make it sideways, but the counterbore was too narrow.
Binding peeled off is reinforced by bond.
I polished the gold plating of the pegs and bridge with Picard until it looks like chrome.
2015.7.26: I changed the volume pot to 1M ohm to make it more like a real Telecas, and added a high pass and tone.
The front and rear mixes are phased and useless, but the individual characteristics of the front and rear are emphasized, and the high-pass makes it sound more like a Telecath with a trebly tone.
2015.12.8: I bought the original Jackson, but the neck shape is similar.
but the Jackson seems to be a little thinner
2016.1.17:I replaced the bridge with a new 750 yen bridge that I found in the junk section at a parts store, and it is now dramatically more stable in tuning than the stock one lol.
I didn't have any arms, so I put on the stock photo geni.
Also, I had installed a power spring in the middle of the three springs, but I removed it and replaced it with a two-part spring, and tightened the screws until the bridge was solidly attached, which may have contributed to the stability.
I thought the head shape was the cause of the tuning deviation.
Also, I think I've tightened the rod about a full turn since I bought it.
