'62 Amebin body replaced with '57 HotRod
owner: Yanto
It was originally a '62 Amebin that I bought new in 1990 at THE Kanda Shokai music store in Japan, but when I replaced the PU with an SCN that I bought on eBay this spring, I found that the zakuri on the body was not enough for a two-story single hum. The lacquer paint had turned yellow and I thought a sunburst would look better on a tortoiseshell PG. I had been looking for a suitable guitar for a while and found a super light '57 vintage hot rod with 2T sunburst body on eBay! The 57 Hot Rod has a deep pickup cavity in the body due to the SCN front and middle PUs.

sound features | The original white body was also made of alder, but it was quite heavy compared to the other JB model I own. I thought the sound of the original body was better, but I am now looking at it to see if it is too much to compare a new body with a body that has been played for 20 years. I am now looking at it. It used to have a distinctive midrange, but now it has lost it and I feel that the low end of the 6th string is too much. |
