2019.10.7: I've been thinking about a Floyd 7-string mayo regi since I first saw it on social media, but it wasn't on the market at all and I gave up trying to get one.
I negotiated with the owner who had a Floyd 7-string Mayoressi I saw for the first time that had been disassembled for a long time and did not seem to be used, and he gave it to me.
The rear PU was changed from Nazgul to SH4, and wood was put on the bobbin of both PUs.
The PU on the neck side, which is enabled by coil tapping, was changed to the adjustable pole piece side, and the jack was also replaced because it was rusted.
The insert blocks were all cracked, so I replaced them with titanium ones.
As I was adjusting it, I found out that Floyd's woodworking technique around the bridge doesn't seem to be very good.
I set up the SIT in regular tuning with the 10-58 strings, but the bridge saddle position is too far back on the first string, and the seventh string is very close to the back of the saddle to fit. The fine tuner has to be in a certain position, and the screw that touches the fine tuner has to be in the same position as the other strings. The fine tuner has to be in a certain position or the screws touching the fine tuner will resonate.
The bridge drop is much deeper than that of domestic makers, and the spring space is also dug in a unique way, but the spring hanger and sustain block are not in the same position. The center position of the spring hanger and sustain block has been shifted, and the bridge is designed to be hung by four "C" springs.
The spring hanger and the sustain block are not centered in the same position as the spring hanger and the sustain block, so it is designed to be hung on a four-stringer.
2020.12.5: I replaced the PU with a Bare Knuckle Ragnarok set.
I thought after ordering that the camouflage pattern might be too subtle since the top material is simple flame maple, but I think this was a good choice.
The tremolo springs were set up with 2 power springs and 1 normal spring, but I changed to 4 GOTOH SPs to balance the look.
I set up the strings with the RotoSound 10-56 strings that came with the PU and had faint hopes that the saddle position problem would improve, but the 7 and 3 strings were exactly the same as before...
I replaced the A500kΩ Push&Pull volume pot with a B500kΩ Push&Push that I happened to have left over, and it is now easier to operate as a switch.
2021.1.23: The Ragnarok was not bad, but I became more and more concerned about the appearance pattern and ended up replacing the PU again.
I ended up replacing the PU again. I also decided to go with Duncan this time because it would have cost too much to order from BKP.
I had to order from BKP again, and the price was too high, so I decided to go with Duncan this time.
The potting on the Sentient is a little rough, and the cover is not parallel to the base plate. The cover is not parallel to the base plate, and the wax is stuck at an angle with a lot of wax in the gap between the flat pole piece and the cover.
This means that even when mounted parallel, the flat polepiece side is raised, so it may be a bit of an obstacle for some people, or the pick may hit against it quite a bit.
I have the impression that Duncan has been coming out with some questionable products in recent years, even though I appreciate the price.
I changed the shape of the knob to a different one, because I wanted to have a memory like the original one, and also to make the turning movement a little smaller when I operate it with my pinky finger.
It is easier to push the switch pot than before.
