RY Guitar/Order Telecast type
owner: Shin
2021.10.21: This time, I ordered a body from Warmoth and had it assembled from a neck I found in the showcase.
There are many high grade Telecas necks in stock, and I wanted to make the body to the specifications that are unique to the order.
There was a low-priced Japanese guitar model with a 6-point tremolo and control plate that I liked the design of, and I had a spare bridge, so I decided to go with this design.
It has a back contour, elbow cut, heel-less cut, and an angled selector for a strat-like feel.
However, the pitch between the strings is wide, so the stainless steel fretboard makes it easy for the strings to fall off.
The tone knob is a mini-switch because it was not possible to attach an arm when the bridge was attached solidly.
The selector is a 4-way (2 circuits, 4 contacts) selector, which is the first attempt to use this time, and the wiring is bridge hum, front/rear hum mix, front/rear coil tap mix, front hum, which is a little simplified version of Suhr's Super Switch 2H layout.
However, the contact point is cut between switching to each position due to the structure, so noise is generated when the switch is operated.
The mini switch can be used in the coil tap mix position to turn off the rear PU and use only the front coil tap.
The Vol has a high-pass capacitor so that it has a crunchy sound even when turned down, making it sound like a Telecass.
Two strap pins are placed at the end of the body, as on the Schecter, for stability when propped up against a wall and to make it easier to change the position of the guitar.
The pegs are locking type, but two string guides are attached to prevent resonance when changing the gauge.
Normally, guitars with tremolo are set up floating, but this time, the concept was to make it easy to change tuning and use the arm, so it turned out just as I imagined.
The color is an image of amber, and the first picture is close to the actual body color.
2021.11.21: I replaced the bridge with a VSVG.
The arm no longer interferes with the knob, so I changed from a mini switch to a switch pot so that the tone also works.
I set up the strings with 09-42 gauge to see the effect of the tension pins.
The tuning became more stable and arming became easier, so I am glad I changed the strings.
2022.3.7: I replaced the PU with a Duncan 59 set.
I also changed the selector wiring to rear hum/front/rear hum mix/front tap/front hum, and changed the wiring to front/rear coil tap by switch pot pull.
So the 3rd and 4th sound will be unchanged with the tap.
