AIRCRAFT/AC-5
owner: Shin
2021.2.10: The product page has been there ever since I bought my first AC-5, and the price has remained the same and it has been in stock for an estimated 5 years or more.
I had played it once in the store and knew it was not a bad piece, but the price was very aggressive even though it was hanging in a very bad condition...
I happened to find it on sale at half price and decided to buy it.
I have a similar piece, but this one is made entirely of quilted maple 2P.
It's not a book match, but it's still a great deal.
2021.2.20: I did the usual overall maintenance including bridge OH.
Rear PU, Vol pot, and escutcheon screws seemed to have been replaced.
Vol pots were Φ16 and made in Japan, but I wanted to use Φ24 for mental health reasons, and I did not want to enlarge the pot holes, so I replaced them with extra ones I had on hand.
For some reason, the escutcheon screws were long, so I replaced them with short ones. The front PU screws looked genuine, but they were not gold, so I replaced them.
The saddle fixing screws and nut cap screws were replaced with stainless steel.
The neck was shimmed, and I removed it once and tried to put it back together, but there was a slight tendency for the neck not to be fully shimmed, so the final setup was done with shims.
I think it is pretty close to the original, so I will use it without further customization.
2024.11: I sold it because I had kept it as a collectible and never used it.
